# OKZest > OKZest generates personalized images at scale. You build one image template, add merge tags for the parts that change, and OKZest renders a unique image for each recipient at the moment it is viewed - in emails, newsletters, chatbots, certificates, social media and websites. Key facts: - Images are served as a standard HTML `` tag, so OKZest works with any platform that renders HTML images. No plugin or integration is required. - Personalization happens at render time, not send time. Because the image is generated when the recipient opens it, the design can be updated after an email has already been sent. - Merge tags can be written in any format to match the sending platform - `*[FNAME]*` for Mailchimp, `{{first_name}}` for others. A fallback value can be set for missing data. - Personalizable elements: dynamic text, foreground images, background images, and automatic screenshots of a recipient's website. - Data can come from any source that can pass a URL query parameter - an email service provider, CRM, database or API. - Free plan: 2,500 generated images per month, permanently, with no credit card and no time limit. Free-plan images carry a watermark. - Only generated images count toward the plan allowance.
