We have been very busy this month!
New Feature
Dynamic Logos
We now use a logo service to enable the placement of each recipient’s logo into image.
This has been developed and will be live soon.
Enhancements
Image Compression
We have changed the format of all images generated from PNG to JPG to enable files that are smaller and even faster to deliver!
Website Content and Design
Feature Pages
We have added feature pages for:
These should improve SEO and make it easier for potential customers to see what we have to offer.
We have also added a drop-down menu to these in the top menu and footer.
We removed the affiliates link from the top menu.
Website Design
- Replaced the Twitter logo with the X logo
- Updated the Email Service Provider icons on the home page
- Updated the colours of some text and icons throughout the website
Fixed Issues
Email Deliverability
We were having issues with emails we were sending customers (including email validation for user onboarding) going into people’s junk folder.
The main reason for this was our SPF value being 12/10. We resolved this, so emails should now be delivered without issue.
We also added a BIMI record, so our logo now appears in email readers such as Gmail.
Email deliverability is a complex topic, worth a blog post on its own; so I’ll add this soon!
Scaling
In the design tool and preview page, the canvas was being stretched based on the users scaling setting on their computer. This meant that the image appeared to be a lower quality than it actually was. We have resolved the scaling on these 2 screens.
The recipients of the images saw them at the correct scaling, so no changes were required.
Marketing
Marketing Posts
We have created 11 new marketing posts that focus on issues people have, instead of features we offer.
These are in the rotation mix – we use Publer to automate the posting to all social media sites.
Since 11th August we haven’t been posting to LinkedIn because it’s done though Paul’s account and Paul has lot access to his account! LinkedIn automatically flagged a post as being against their terms of service, but was then reviewed by a human and deemed okay. However, Paul’s account is still blocked and LinkedIn have been very slow (bad!) at enabling it even through Paul hasn’t done anything wrong and has been emailing them daily about it. We hope this gets resolved soon…
Cold Email
We tried cold emailing at the start of this year, but it didn’t work for us…
After discussing this with a marketer (who does cold email for a living) it’s obvious that our approach to it was wrong – we were targeting too wide an audience (with the intention of narrowing it down based on results). That didn’t work, the correct approach is to start as niche as possible and then look for other niches.
So, we have been encouraged to try this again. We are currently warming up 6 new email account to do this (using Instantly and will find leads and send emails via Apollo), as detailed in our guide.
Inbound Links
It’s really hard to get inbound links! We have previously emailed over 100 companies, asking them if we can write a well-written articles for them with a link back to your website, but most didn’t reply and the few that did said no thanks…
We have posted on many link directories, but most of these are low quality.
This month we created a Linktree page with links to the OKZest website and other services that we have signed up to, each with links to OKZest.
